OurCoop’s sales rose 180.3% to £1.3bn, reflecting the enlarged group’s scale following its merger with Central Co-op, Midcounties Co-operative, and Chelmsford Star Co-operative Society in January 2026. The company’s trading profit remained stable at £4.5m despite a challenging trading environment. The merger has resulted in savings of £2.3m, exceeding the planned amount by £900,000. OurCoop chief executive Debbie Robinson stated that the integration has created opportunities to reduce shared costs and make better use of resources. This is a direct result of the merger, which has allowed the company to streamline its operations. Robinson noted that the company has invested in frontline pay and reward for colleagues, which has been reflected in the reported profit.

The merger is part of a two-year integration programme, with the business now looking to simplify its operating model and make greater use of its combined resources and expertise. During the six months, OurCoop invested £12m in new sites, refurbishments, maintenance, and in-store technology, including new food stores in Rainhill and Leckhampton, as well as an Early Years centre in Stratford. Robinson said the group has further opportunities to reduce duplication and create a “simpler operating model” as the integration progresses. OurCoop recently won the Sustainable Retailer of the Year award at the RG Excellence Awards, held on 14 October at London’s Underglobe.
