DHL eCommerce is aggressively expanding its acquisition strategy in Eastern Europe, with plans to acquire additional parcel operators in the region. The latest initiative involves the proposed purchase of Venipak, a Baltic logistics provider serving Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. CEO Pablo Ciano stated in a German logistics publication that Eastern Europe now leads the division’s European acquisition plans, as DHL sees fewer gaps to fill in Western and Southern Europe.
DHL has already strengthened its UK operations through a merger with Evri and forged a partnership with Portugal’s CTT to enhance delivery networks in Spain and Portugal. These transactions illustrate a broader approach: DHL is integrating local parcel infrastructure, including lockers and collection points, into its global network. The Venipak acquisition would bring approximately 800 additional parcel lockers and a domestic delivery system, complementing similar collaborations in Italy and the Iberian Peninsula.

Annual growth in cross-border parcel volumes for DHL currently stands at around 15%. Private transactions on platforms like Vinted, where €10.8 billion in goods changed hands last year, are driving increased use of parcel collection and drop-off services. In Germany, DHL’s locker network now processes these transactions more efficiently, with Vinted users increasingly utilizing DHL’s facilities for sending and receiving items.
In 2025, DHL eCommerce generated €6.9 billion in revenue, and Ciano has set a goal to double this amount within five years. The company’s strategy centers on acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and expanding its network of parcel points to support both e-commerce and peer-to-peer sales. Eastern Europe, with its developing but fast-growing logistics sector, remains a primary focus for scaling these initiatives.
