TikTok Shop is expanding its cross-border sales capabilities, allowing sellers from eight European Union member states to offer their products to British consumers. Conversely, sellers in the United Kingdom will soon be able to sell to shoppers in continental Europe.
The platform has significantly expanded its presence in Europe in recent years, launching in Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland in mid-June. With the launch of ‘Sell Across Europe’, TikTok Shop evolved into a pan-European marketplace, enabling sellers to reach consumers in twelve European countries.
Sellers in Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and Spain will soon be able to offer their products to shoppers in the United Kingdom, where TikTok Shop has been active for almost five years and where more than 300,000 small businesses use the platform. A pilot for selected EU sellers will start on 21 September, followed by a broader rollout on 19 October.
To sell to British customers, sellers from the eight EU countries will have to ship the items themselves, using the ‘Ship by Seller’ option. They must already be active on TikTok Shop in an eligible EU market, have an account in good standing with recent sales, and have no significant outstanding negative balance.

TikTok Shop explains that sellers will have to “You pick the courier, you pay the courier, and you handle the customer if the delivery goes wrong”.
From the United Kingdom to Europe, TikTok Shop will enable its sellers to sell products to consumers in continental Europe through TikTok Shop, serving customers in the twelve countries that are part of the Sell Across Europe network. Eligibility is determined through a real-time assessment of the seller’s current account status and performance.
As TikTok Shop expands its cross-border sales, it is similar to other platforms that have expanded their reach into new markets, allowing for greater connectivity between buyers and sellers. This move is likely to increase competition and provide more opportunities for small businesses to reach a wider audience.
TikTok Shop’s expansion of its cross-border sales capabilities is a significant development for the platform, which has been active in the United Kingdom for almost five years. With the ability to sell to consumers in continental Europe, UK-based sellers will have access to a larger market, and EU-based sellers will be able to reach British consumers.
